Book of Condolences for former Soviet Leader Mikhail Gorbachev at Russian Consulate General in Shanghai
General secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1985 to 1991 and President of the Soviet Union in 1990–91 Mikhail S. Gorbachev has passed away in Moscow at the age of 91 after a serious and prolonged illness. He was hospitalized at the very beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic and had been under medical supervision ever since.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his “deepest condolences” on the death of Mikhail Gorbachev to his family and friends.
To honor his life and legacy, Russian Consulate General in Shanghai invites members of the public and diplomatic community to express their sympathy to the Gorbachev Family for their loss by sending messages of condolence by email: shanghai@mid.ru.
